The news of his boyhood friend's tragic murder-suicide drew Falk back to the town he had left decades ago. A federal agent now based in Melbourne, Falk had not returned to this drought-stricken rural community for years. However, he was asked to extend his stay and look into the shocking incident.
As Falk began his investigation, he encountered resistance from the local townspeople. Some suspected that he was hiding information about the death of another friend that had occurred years earlier. This past incident continued to cast a shadow over Falk's homecoming, with certain individuals unwilling to let it go.
